*Airplanes 101* (See Airplanes 101 Set)
Name: Boeing 747-400, 747-400F
Manufacturer: Boeing (USA) .
Main Role: large capacity long range mainline jetliner
Basic design: Four engines double aisle wide body jet. Known as a "Jumbo Jet" known as "The Queen of the Skies"
Capacity: Roughly 415-560 passengers
Range: 9200km -14200km
First delivery date: 1989
Still in production in 2008: No, ended 2007
Easily confused for: other models of the 747 and especially the 747-300 it most resembles.
Main identifying points: Look for the the stretched "hump" or second floor at the front of the plane that houses the cockpit and upper deck cabin of the aircraft. A second reference point are the wingtip winglets which are only on the 747-400 and no other version. This is a common long range jet flown by many of the world’s largest airlines. You are likely to see one at a major world airport and especially around the Asia-Pacific region. The 747-400F however has the classic standard short hump and three closely positioned windows on each side of the upper deck. There are no passenger windows of course.
Examples of Main Operators: Air France, British Airways, Lufthansa, KLM, JAL, ANA, Qantas, Air New Zealand, Garuda, Thai Airways, Malaysia Airlines, Air China, China Airlines, Philippine Airlines, South African, United, Northwest, Air India
