Oct 2003: Here’s an exotic bird… an Ethiopian 757 being pushed back for a return trip to Addis Ababa in Africa. Today in 2006 they’ve modernized their look a little… Here’s ET-AKF today: www.airliners.net/open.file/0906098/L/

*Airplanes 101* (See Airplanes 101 Set)
Name: Boeing 757-200
Manufacturer: Boeing (USA) .
Main Role: large capacity long range mainline jetliner
Basic design: Two engined single aisle narrow body jet.
Capacity: Roughly 175-240 passengers
Range: 4700km -7200km
First delivery date: 1983
Still in production: No
Easily confused for: TU-204, the Airbus A321 and the 737-900 as well as the 737 & A320 as all have a similar narrow body twin engine design.
Main identifying points: Look for a very high positioned narrow-body plane with very tall landing gear, two larger than normal engines and particularly large cockpit windows. Also it’s the only one of two narrow body twin-jets with standard double wheeled landing gear (ie: 2 sets of wheels), most others have single wheeled gear (1 set of wheels). [Note on exceptions: Some Indian Airline's A320 are the only A320s with double wheeled main landing gear due to the terrain they must tackle at local Indian Airports. Also the Russian TU-204 loos very much in appearance to the 757 in all respects. It has standard upward winglets and a slightly bigger tail. The cockpit windows are also shaped differently] Blended winglets are being sold as an after market product, Continental, American and recently Delta have ordered them but normally this plane has no winglets.
Examples of Main Operators: Northwest, Continental, American, United, Delta, US Airways, British Airways and many charter airlines and more. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Boeing_757_operators

Both Boeing and Airbus have attempted to fill a hole left by the 757-200, the last delivery of which was in 2005 to Shanghai Airlines, although neither airframer has been able to build an adequate replacement.
