Ice in fuel tiggered the British Airways Boeing 777 accident at Heathrow Airport

It also demanded that Boeing put in place new safety measures to ensure that planes travelling at high altitude in temperatures far below freezing do not suffer a potentially disastrous build up of ice in their fuel systems. The recommendations were made in a report into the crash in January in which a BA 777 flying from Beijing crash landed short of the runway with 136 passengers and 16 crew on board.

Engine power loss appears to be the cause of the Boeing 777 crash at London Heathrow airport

Engine power loss appears to have been the cause of an accident at the UK’s London Heathrow airport, in which a British Airways Boeing 777 landed just inside the airfield boundary some 500m (1,640ft) short of the runway 27L threshold. The 136 passengers were evacuated via all eight slides, with three people suffering minor injuries, according to a statement by the airline’s chief executive Willie Walsh.

Boeing produces 600th 777 faster than any other twin aisle airplane in history

The 777 program reached this milestone after 11 years in service, faster
than any other twin-aisle airplane program in history. If the 787 really only
takes 3 days to assemble it will achieve this milestone much quicker. We
estimate the 787 could reach this milestone between 4.5 to 5 years, half
the time of the 777. But Boeing has to sell 600 first. By comparison with

FedEx cancels A380 Freighorders and replaces them with Boeing 777 Freighter orders

FedEx Express has placed an order for up to 30 Boeing 777 Freighters, replacing its
initial order for 10 Airbus A380s. The deal, which consists of 15 firm orders and 15

looking forward to working with FedEx on this new chapter in our relationship,” says
Boeing Commercial Airplanes vice president of sales for the Americas Ray Conner in
a statement. “The 777F will have unmatched capacity for a twin-engine freighter and
is a perfect complement to the existing FedEx fleet of aircraft.” Financial details are
not being disclosed, but estimates place the value at around $3.5 billion

Aerospace Notebook: Boeing now offers the 777 as a tanker By JAMES
WALLACEP-I REPORTERFor more than a year, The Boeing Co. has made it clear
that if the Air Force wants a bigger tanker than the 767, it has just such a plane — the

Air Force issued a draft request for tanker bids, Boeing began publicly trumpeting the
benefits of a 777 tanker. Boeing used an Air Force Association convention in
Washington, D.C., to brief reporters for the first time on the KC-777 tanker, which
